Saint Martin’s is Bangladesh's only coral island, covering just eight square kilometers. The landmass is often submerged during high tide and is known as the "Pearl of the Sea." Located about 10 km from the mainland at Teknaf, the island is best accessed via a government-operated ferry, which takes around two hours each way.
Visitors can choose to spend just a few hours on the island or enjoy a longer stay of one or two days. With ferry schedules in mind, a one-and-a-half-day trip is quite feasible. Saint Martin’s offers a serene escape with its blue skies, swaying coconut trees, and crystal-clear waters, perfect for swimming, snorkeling in the lagoon, and leisurely strolls along the shore. The island is also famous for its delicious seafood and boasts several hotels, guesthouses, and eateries.
For those seeking adventure, scuba diving facilities and a sea turtle hatchery are available. Despite its small size, the island can easily be explored on foot in just a few hours. The permanent population of about 8,000 residents primarily consists of fishermen.
